In episode 2 of this Montana archery elk hunt, the guys are up early at camp and head out to hike some nearby ridges and locate the herd. Unfortunately the wind is not in their favor first thing in the morning, so they have to be patient and wait for the right timing. Additionally, there is hunting pressure up above the herd.
Eventually they are able to get closer to the herd, but it’s interrupted by another pair of hunters who end up shooting an elk not far away. A couple calves come by Randy within range, but he decides to pass.
The next morning they are up early again and hike up on a ridge to try and get a bead on some elk that are less pressured by the hunters from yesterday. They hunt hard all day but are starting to think about leaving central Montana for the familiar thick country of southwest Montana.
