Late Season Idaho Elk
19m
In this episode of Lessons Learned, Randy Newberg is substituted by his proteges Marcus Hockett and Michael Parente. During the 2020 season, Michael was lucky enough to draw a glory elk tag in Idaho. The hunt was successful as Michael shot a mature bull elk in a canyon as far away from roads as possible. This unit was heavily roaded and a generally flat sage brush landscape. The plan was to try and cover as much ground as possible to try and find sign before honing in on an area for the remainder of the trip. Even though this was a glory tag, it started off much different than they expected. Michael and Marcus cover a few lessons that they learned from this adventure. They talk about how to be mentally prepared for a glory tag, being prepared to move camp if need be, and how to prepare as much as possible before you ever set foot in the unit.
